Gifts of Koa Wood

“King of the Hawaiian Woods” Koa is one of Hawaii’s largest native trees. Several varieties of koa grow in Hawaii, but all are unique to the Islands. Mentioned often in ancient stories and songs koa provided the wood to make calabashes or “umekela’au” bowls, surf boards, weaponry, ukuleles, canoes and canoe paddles.

Today you can experience the beauty and durability of koa in this unique set of handmade Made in Hawaii trivets. These trivets are completely laser cut which gives the trivet its unique two-in-one trivet precision. The inner trivet can be rotated inside the outer trivet to show a beautiful contrast of wood grains. The finish is highly resistant to water, alcohol, and temperatures up to 165 degrees. Each trivet has a cork backing to help protect tabletops. A care and information label is included and is beautifully packaged in a custom island-inspired print fabric Makana Wrap™.
