A new CSR recipient / partner has come into our thoughts and vision. Ka Hale A Ke Ola (KHAKO) is a comprehensive resource center that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, adult education and training, counseling, a primary care medical clinic and facilities for child care. KHAKO is dedicated to serving the needs of the homeless and hungry on Maui by providing emergency food and housing, voicing their concerns, and empowering them to take responsibility for their own lives, and to call on the community to assist in these actions. With resource centers located in Kahului (Central Maui) and Lāhaina (West Maui), your desire to give back is less than a 30 minute transfer from all Wailea, Kā‘anapali and Kapalua resorts.

Ka Hale A Ke Ola programs include:

  • Emergency Housing Program – a vital resource for people facing homelessness. We provide safe, secure shelter and hot meals in addition to case management services.
  • Transitional Housing Program – works towards maintaining self-sufficiency with support from a case manager. Housing is combined with wrap-around services to assist the individual with developing stability in their lives. The path toward stability may include studying for the G.E.D., vocational training, learning to manage money, paying down debt or saving up for a home.
  • Comprehensive Chemical Dependency Education Program – designed to promote awareness of the negative consequences of addiction on the individual and their families. The program is designed around the Matrix Model and implemented by credentialed professionals. Also offers comprehensive assessment tools to determine the needs of each client for effective case management that leads to higher levels of success.
  • Children Services – As parents work to get back on their feet, their children receive quality care. Every child is assigned their own case manager to monitor their health, safety, and educational growth. Children Case Managers also link children and families to helpful resources available in the community and coordinate after-school programs.
  • Rental Assistance Program (RAP) – the goal is to provide supplemental assistance to qualifying individuals and families for rental or utility assistance, case management, and ancillary services to support them in making the adjustment to market rental housing and economic self-sufficiency.
