Living Aloha! Are you?

“What is Aloha? How can it impact your life and those around you?

Aloha, beyond its common meanings of Hello, Goodbye, and Love, is an attitude, a way of life, a code of ethics…

Aloha, is always in the present and its core essence is “Sharing the breath of life” or  “Joyfully sharing life” with people, nature, and the world, without any expectation in return.

One early teaching goes like this:

“Aloha is being a part of all, and all being a part of me. When there is pain – it is my pain. When there is joy – it is also mine. I respect all that is as part of the Creator and part of me. I will not willfully harm anyone or anything. When food is needed I will take only my need and explain why it is being taken. The earth, the sky, the sea are mine to care for, to cherish and to protect. This is Hawaiian – this is Aloha!”

Having now lived in Hawai‘i for the last 32 years, I’ve embraced the Hawaiian Host Culture, been consistently mesmerized by Hawai‘i’s nearly perfect physical and social environment, and thoroughly convinced that this spirit of Aloha is Hawai‘i’s greatest gift to the World.

Any of us, whether or not we are of Hawaiian blood, can decide from this moment forward to change our way of life and Live Aloha!”
